The use of weapons has become increasingly evident during attacks in Milton Keynes and Hertfordshire. According to MKFM (2018), there have been reports of a stabbing in Milton Keynes. An officer at the scene was quoted in saying, ‘this was a concerning incident that took place in the centre of Milton Keynes.’ Unfortunately, knife crimes have become frequent with more people suffering severe or fatal injuries as a result of this heinous crime.
On the 7th of October, KMDT are hosting a Weapons Workshop at Roundwood Park School in Harpenden from 11am to 1pm. This workshop is specifically designed to provide participants with different Krav Maga self defence techniques that are effective when tackling knife crime. Furthermore, students will also understand the triggers that usually lead to a potentially dangerous situation.
This is an extremely important element to preventing knife crime, as students will learn how to diffuse the situation immediately before any damage has been caused. This technique is known as situational awareness, which will be explored at great length during the workshop. Participants will understand how their environment can be an easy and effective tool when dealing with threats. During the workshop, students will understand how to defend themselves against various knife attacks.
The objective of this workshop is to make all participants feel confident, empowered and safe by teaching them realistic defences against knife crimes. At the end of this workshop, all students will be equipped with a variety of strategies and techniques to protect themselves, in an attempt to stop them becoming victims. This workshop is open to both members of KMDT and the public, with the price of admission listed as £29.99.
